Retro Gaming

As in 2012 we’ll have a host of classic video games hardware and games for your perusal and enjoyment – except this year it’s much bigger.

Saturday afternoon and early evening will also feature a large free play and expo gaming area hosted by The Retro Computer Museum - a registered charity dedicated to the benefit of the public for the preservation, display and public experience of computer and console systems from the 1960′s onwards. They’ll be bringing a wide selection of consoles and kit up to SB13 ranging from popular favourites through to some rarities; and of course including some epic multi-player setups.

Computer Club – the team Manchester’s most well-known retro gaming social will be joining us to provide smaller retro-gaming areas part of our evening events too.

Saturday’s daytime activities also see the return of tournaments, this year hosted by our very own Team MegaByte! We’ll be announcing a full range of tournaments (complete with live commentary!) over the summer where you’ll be able to compete with other players for our prestigious SuperByte 2013 Golden Joysticks and other great prizes.

Tournaments are:

  • Super Streetfighter 2 (SNES)
  • Mario Kart (multiple versions over several rounds)
  • Bomberman (Sega Saturn)
  • Sonic the Hedgehog (Sega Mega Drive)
  • Super Smash Bros Melee (Nintendo Gamecube)

Sign up for tournaments will be on the day itself and spaces for tournaments will be limited, so be sure to arrive early if you want to take part – on the day, look out for signs pointing you towards tournament sign ups. You can find a schedule of tournament times on the Running Order page, though these may change slightly on the day.

Get practicing!
