What an incredible few days, definitely one of the best weekends of our lives. We’re genuinely humbled to have so many people spending their valuable time, money (or both!) to make SuperByte Festival the best vibe in the world.
There’s so many people that deserve thanks, but we’ll keep it to a select few -the SuperByte team for being great people to work with – the support and enthusiasm you have for the event is nothing short of incredible, Mark Knight was fantastic as a stage manager as well as a chip legend in his own right and it was a pleasure to have him on board. Special thanks too to J3WEL who did an amazing job looking after our social media accounts, Tokyo Chipped for the support with the pre and post parties and Auracle and B-Type for their excellent co-ordination of our busking adventures.
Of course, none of this would be possible without the musicians, visual artists, workshop hosts (or all three in the case of Triple Threat Sam Wray – maybe a rename to 3xAA is in order?) plus a special shout-out to MONODEER for being a last minute replacement and coming through with an incredible set at very short notice.
Our eternal gratitude goes out to everyone who worked for SuperByte over the weekend, as well as hype and press coverage beforehand. Thanks for everyone who attended as well, there were lots of familiar faces, some new faces and some surprises too! We could have had an extra amazing day with all the talent in the audience!
Thank you all so much. We’re not sure about SuperByte’s immediate future as one half of the core team is stepping down to take some much needed down time, but rest assured that the future of chipmusic in the UK is brighter than ever.
SuperByte 2015 kicks off this Thursday! In case you missed it, here’s the full line-up.
We’re taking online ticket sales offline on Friday morning to allow us time to process everything.
You’ll also be able to buy advance price tickets at our pre-party on the Thursday, because we’re nice like that. There’ll be some tickets available on the door on Friday & Saturday but will cost more (£35 for the full weekend and £18 per day).
You can also pick up your weekend wristbands and passes on Thursday at the pre-party to save you queuing at The Zoo. There are full schedules for all events online here.
We hope you can join us for what promises to be the biggest and best SuperByte yet. <3
We’re incredibly sad to announce that due to some last minute travel issues out of his control, minusbaby won’t be able to make it to Europe to perform at SuperByte. Kindly stepping up at the very last minute to take his place though, we’re happy to welcome MONODEER to the SuperByte 2015 lineup!
Monodeer is the alter ego of Dutch electronic musician Mark van den Heuvel who combines his eternal love for 8-bit, noise and basslines into inimitable live sets. Using two classic Nintendo Gameboys as instruments, he energetically explores, challenges and breaks through the pixelated boundaries of the micromusic scene. Monodeer’s own brand of dark, noisy, lo-fi mastery will get you moving to the sounds of deep chip-bass and melodic hooks. Minimal means. Maximum sound.
We’re chuffed to confirm that the popular Teletext art drop in will return for SuperByte 2015!
Remember teletext, Britain’s very own Internet of the 80s? Didn’t you wish you could just change the pages so your football team was top of the league, or the weather would be good for a change? Well, now you can.
Come along and make your own teletext pages using genuine teletext software or our handy worksheets. Don’t worry, we’ll provide the felt tip pens so you can concentrate on the creativity!
