Pre-Party & Open Stage

The Thursday night of SuperByte sees the return of our popular Open Stage and pre-party.  The pre-party is the perfect opportunity to meet and hang out with festival-goers and artists, listen to some folks play the Open Stage and kick back before the main event.

Our pre-party will be held at:

Fab Cafe, 109 Portland St, Manchester, M1 6DN on Thursday 10th September 2015.

The pre party starts at 7pm.

Once again we’re lucky to be joint-hosting the Thursday night with Tokyo Chipped – one of Manchester’s finest chiptune and gaming events.

This year we’ll see sets from:

Congratulations if you made it through, and apologies if you didn’t – as usual, demand way outstripped the number of available places. As well as sets from these artists, we’ll also have a special set by 2xAA, DJ sets and more so don’t miss it!

Afterwards, Tokyo Chipped’s resident DJ’s will provide the soundtrack until the small hours alongside retro gaming and more in this unique and decidedly awesome venue.

Open Stage Info:

The Open Stage is pretty relaxed, but there are a few guidelines in place to keep it open and fair. Here they are:

  • Sets are first come, first served via the sign up which will be online on the 1st of June. There are 10 x 15 minute sets in total. We’ll take the form offline as soon as those slots are taken up.
  • We’ll randomly draw names of signed-up artists on the night to determine which slot you’ll be given.
  • We have to be pretty strict on set times to make sure that everyone gets a fair shot, so please plan yours accordingly.
  • Artists only have 5 minutes to set up in between sets, so please do keep your set ups simple or you could be impacting on your performance time.
  • We’ll be running everything through our own mixer and have two channels (phono inputs) available for you to use. We’ll have a selection of audio cables available, but if you’ve an unusual or more complex set up, it might be worth bringing your own just to make sure you’re covered. Because of the quick turnaround, we’re restricted to line level instruments.
  • Above all, have fun. That’s actually the most important rule.
